GAIL board okays Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline

The board of GAIL (India) today gave in-principle approval for laying of the Rs 2,500 crore Dabhol-Bangalore gas pipeline.

The 730 kilometre pipeline, which will be designed to carry 16 million cubic metres per day (mcmd) of gas, is expected to be completed by 2011-12, a statement from the company said.

The final board approval will be given after the project is appraised, customers identified and design parameters frozen.

The pipeline will connect the LNG Terminal of Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private (RGPPL) at Dabhol in Maharashtra to Bangalore. It will pass through Ratnagiri and Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra and Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Bangalore districts of Karnataka.

“With this pipeline, natural gas from the Ratnagiri LNG Terminal can be supplied to industrial clusters in the state of Maharashtra and Karnataka,” the statement added. Source:business-standard.com
